Itinerary Highlights:
Day 01: Arrive Cochin drive to Munnar
- You are greeted on arrival at Cochin International Airport /Railway station by
Munnar Holidays representative and thereafter depart for Munnar (130 kms / 04 hrs.)
enjoying the scenic beauty & the marvelous Valara & Cheeyyapara Seasonal waterfalls,
high mountains with the low flying clouds passing by. Arrive Munnar and check in at
the hotel. Day at Leisure. Overnight at Munnar.

Day 02: Make Your Own Cup of Tea
- After Breakfast start by 8am drive to Thalayar Tea Estate enroute you will be taken
to the Eravikulam National Park, a sanctuary for the Nigiri Tahr, the endangered
mountain goat of South India. The park spread over 97sq Kms of the Kannan Devan
Hills besides being a sanctuary for the mountain goat, is noted for the stark beauty
of its rolling grasslands and sholas. Later start your journey to Thalayar Tea
Estate you have to reach Thalayar by 11am located 25kms far from Munnar & 15kms from
Eravikulam National Park 30mins drive in beautifully lounges amidst rolling hills
and sharp peaks in Munnar. Visit a quaint Bungalow built in 1924, see firsthand how
tea is processed and witness the life of tea planters. Visit the tea factory. Enjoy
the experience of witnessing the complete tea-making process from leaf picking to
tea processing and then packaging. If you wish, you can be a part of the ‘Make your
tea’ program where along the pickers; you pick the leaves from the estate and
process it yourself in their miniature factory. Take a tour of the tea factory to
appreciate the history and legacy of the tea plantation including certain highlights
which have added to the grandeur and significance of the estate. Get a tea bag for
the day and end the tour on a sweet note. Overnight stay at Munnar.

Day 03: Guided Village Tour of Munnar
- Pick up is after breakfast when we will transport you to the very interesting Aranya
Naturals and DARE (Development Activities in Rehabilitative Education) Projects.
These two facilities fostered by Tata Tea are set in beautiful grounds amidst the
Tata tea plantations. The projects help handicapped children of employees to make
the most of their abilities by education and teaching practical self-help skills in
a happy and safe environment.
Afterwards we take you to visit the Flower Garden and for an Elephant Safari, before
driving on to the scenic Mattupetty Dam, Echo- Point and Kundala Dam areas. Kundala
Dam there is an opportunity to enjoy boating on the lake. Finally, we drive through
a vegetable growing area to Top Station which is situated high in the mountains on
the border between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Top station is of historical importance
because originally tea chests were transported from Munnar and Madupetty by train to
Top Station (the highest station on the Kundala Valley Railway) from there the tea
chests were taken 5Km by rope way down to Kottagudi in Tamil Nadu.
- Finally, to Koviloor Villages via Pampadum Shola national park if interested you can
plan for a short trek organized by forest officials you can book the trekking tour
on arrival. Koviloor a picturesque village in Kerala-Tamil nadu border. It’s not a
tourist hub as the majority of the tourists return after making a visit to Munnar.
The village is famous for its carrot and cabbage plantation, a real vegetable
village. From there Kolukkumalai tea plantations can be seen. Here the locals will
get the service of horses to carry the luggage. Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 04: Kolukkumalai Tea Factory Visit
- The journey starts from your chosen departure point within Munnar town at 8am, where
we will transport your party by 4-wheel drive jeep to the Kolukkumalai Tea
Plantation. The journey takes approximately 90 minutes to cover the 40kms, 10Kms of
which are on a very rough track through dramatic scenery into the mountains. The
estate at 8000ft is reputedly the highest tea estate in the world and produces
excellently flavoured teas. Set amidst a backdrop of magnificent mountain scenery
and with inspirational views all around, it is well worth the difficulty of access.
Due to this difficulty of access and remoteness you will find life for the tea
estate workers is simple and evolves around their work, homes, and family. An
afternoon visit to the tea factory can be arranged and for those clients wishing to
make the most of the rejuvenating mountain air and scenery a guided one-hour walking
tour around the estate is included in the tour.
Day 05: Guided Trekking in Munnar
- The trek starts by 08:30am with a guidance of Guide from Local Community through the
tea plantations, next couple of hours trek will be on the ridge which offers
beautiful views of pullivasal & surrounding areas, it will be through grasslands,
one side will be rocky mountain slope and the other side will be tea plantations,
patches of Shola Forest etc.… If you are lucky, you can spot wild Elephants enroute.
Overnight will be at Munnar.
Day 06: Departure from Munnar to Cochin (150Kms 04Hrs Drive)
- After the breakfast pack your baggage’s with a promise to return once again to this
Paradise… later Proceed to on time to board your flight/train with sweet memories of
your holiday. We await for your next visit …
